LA PLATA.- What has occurred with the Clásico Luis María Doyhenard (G3-1300m), a key stepping stone for 2-year-old colts at this city’s racetrack, must be a world record. After being called off twice before, authorities canceled it for a third time this Monday—this time without a rescheduled date, as it would conflict with upcoming divisional races.

As a general rule, group races should not be canceled and ought to be run regardless of the number of starters. To do so three times is unprecedented in global racing records. For some time, "El Bosque" has been losing or seeing its main stakes downgraded, and it would not be surprising if it soon holds even fewer races within the Cataloguing Standards.

The embarrassment was twofold as the Clásico Asociación Bonaerense de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3)was also scrapped without a new date. It is highly likely that the La Plata Racetrack will receive a warning from the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) via OSAF for these actions, which violate regulations and undermine its own marquee events.

Both graded stakes were slated for Tuesday, April 21, a date on which only the Clásico Curtida Nistel (4yo+ mares, weight-for-age) survived. The confirmed field includes: Beauty Check (Safety Check), Dark Gina (In the Dark), Potra Sabática (Manipulator), Qué Buena B (Qué Vida Buena), Sprint Back (Nickelback), Tac-Tac (Manipulator), and Woman Edition (Equal Edition).

La Plata will also race on Thursday, the 23rd, featuring the Handicap Haras Abolengo (1200m, dirt). The 10-horse field is led by highweights Mago Beto (Dabster, 60kg) and Atrevido Electric (Electricity, 60kg), alongside Arcanum (Horse Greeley, 59), Glorioso Rim (Remote, 58), Curioso Azteca (Empire Aztec, 56), El Determinado (Il Campione, 55), Soñar Despierto (Winning Prize, 54), Le Vert (Le Blues, 54), Redentor Scat (Knockout, 53 1/2), and Rodo (Flowing Rye, 52 1/2).
