After an impressive performance in the Unzué (G1), the son of Remote showed his strength on the lead and held on gamely

LA PLATA.- After an impressive run in the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1) at San Isidro, where he finished a close sixth behind Arellano (Angiolo) on turf, Yukon Jack emerged as a strong contender for the Clásico Platería (1100m, heavy dirt), Thursday’s other marquee race at La Plata. The son of Remote delivered on expectations, claiming a courageous victory—the most significant of his budding career.
Setting the pace early under jockey Daniel E. Arias, the runner for Stud Abuela Amalia from Azul held off challenges from Pan y Circo (Qué Vida Buena), Lo Dejo Todo (Le Blues), and Cacal Island (Lizard Island). Moving to the middle of the track in the stretch, Yukon Jack successfully thwarted a late charge from the 9-year-old Surfing Boy, who continues to prove his mettle in top-level company.
The margin was half a length at the wire, with Lo Dejo Todo finishing third, two lengths back. Hit Tifón (Hit It a Bomb) rounded out the superfecta, trailing by another six lengths. Pan y Circo, who entered as the top favorite after two straight stakes wins, faded to a disappointing sixth, leaving many with long faces.
Bred by Francisco Pérez Werthein at Haras Chenaut, Yukon Jack is out of Stormy Mía, a dual-winning daughter of Bernstein. Stormy Mía has already produced two other stakes winners: Milanés Joy (Fortify), victor of the Jockey Club de Venezuela (L), and Joy Mirenla (Fortify), who claimed the Jockey Club de Rosario (G3).
A grandson of the exceptional sprinter Forty Miau (Roar) and part of the same family as champion Joy Canela (Fortify), Yukon Jack’s victory has solidified his place among the top sprinters at El Bosque.
