Horse, jockey and trainer combined their unstoppable momentum to capture the Especial Haras Don Arcángel

LA PLATA.- Che Vivi was simply unstoppable—and so were those around him. His jockey, Gonzalo Borda, rode with flawless timing, and his trainer Marcelo Sueldo (though the horse was saddled by Juan Pablo E. Díaz) continues to enjoy a streak of dominance. The end result was the son of Manipulator capturing Tuesday’s feature at San Isidro, the Especial Haras Don Arcángel (1600m, dirt), notching his fifth consecutive win from just six career starts.
The dark bay brought too much firepower for his six rivals, with four original entries ultimately being withdrawn. In a much-anticipated clash between the two betting choices, Che Vivi proved too strong for El Patio (Il Campione), making full use of a six-kilo weight advantage—54 kilos versus 60—to score by a length after a long stretch duel.
A returner from nearly 18 months on the sidelines before stringing together four conditional wins, Che Vivi dropped back in trip from 2000 to 1600 meters and delivered his most polished performance yet, one that could well set him on course for the G2 Gran Premio Joaquín V. González on Nov. 19.
Graf Spee (Winning Prize, 54) forced the early issue on El Patio, while Borda kept Che Vivi in striking range in third and Señor Dan (Señor Candy, 58) tracked from fourth. The quartet lined up as they hit the turn, and by the time they straightened, it was reduced to a head-to-head battle.
Che Vivi gradually edged clear, El Patio unable to claw back the gap, with a length separating them at the wire. Señor Dan finished another neck back in third, and Graf Spee checked in fourth, five lengths adrift. Final time for the mile was a sharp 1:36.79, carved out through splits of :24.67, :47.55 and 1:11.91, confirming a true-run contest.
Owned by Stud Montana and produced from the generous Union Camp (Dixie Union), Che Vivi is a half-brother to G1 winners Idalino (Pleasantly Perfect) and Besitos (Cima de Triomphe), and a grandson of the great Campagnarde(Oak Dancer).
