HALLANDALE BEACH, Florida (Special for Turf Diario).- Family history returns to the stage this Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where Knightsbridge will attempt to emulate his half-brother in the 82nd edition of the Gulfstream Park Mile (G3-1,600 m, dirt, US$ 225,000 purse), one of 8 graded stakes in a 14-race program.

Bred by Godolphin, the son of Nyquist and Tyburn Brook (Bernardini) arrives as a clear favorite (1-5 in the morning-line) to follow in the footsteps of Speaker's Corner (Street Sense), who in 2022 dominated this same race by 5 1/2 lengths after previously winning the Fred W. Hooper (G3).

Both share a trainer: Hall of Fame member Bill Mott, who sees clear parallels between the brothers' campaigns. “Both are very talented and found their best momentum here at Gulfstream during the winter,” he noted.

Knightsbridge arrives in peak form. After sweeping by 4 3/4 lengths in the Mr. Prospector (G3) on December 27, he repeated the margin in the Hooper on January 24, despite sustaining a strong duel in the lead for much of the course. Since running with blinkers, he remains undefeated in 3 starts. The Venezuelan Junior Alvarado, the architect of his last 2 victories —and also the jockey of Speaker’s Corner in his wins here— will ride him again.

The main challenge could come from Mika, representing Nice Guys Stables, who reappears after a ninth-place finish in the Pegasus World Cup (G1). The son of Catholic Boy showed bravery in the Cigar Mile (G2), where he fell by a neck after setting the pace. Now he will be guided by Flavien Prat.

Another experienced name is Steal Sunshine, a past winner of this race and second last year behind Mindframe(Constitution). The son of Constitution will attempt to regain form after two discreet performances. José Morelos will ride him.

Completing the field are Flying Liam (Liam's Map) —debuting in stakes after being claimed— as well as Bernin Hot(Bernardini) and Classic of Course (Awesome of Course).

For Knightsbridge, the mission is clear: confirm that blood rules and that history can repeat itself. In a race that usually sets the pulse of the season for adults in the mile, the favorite is not only running for the prize, but for the legacy.
