A promising showdown on the La Plata mile, heading toward November's Clásico Joaquín V. González (G2)

LA PLATA—Following the magnificent victory scored by champion Le Cornette (Emmanuel) on Monday at Hipódromo PalermoHacer clic para abrir el panel lateral y obtener más información, top-tier action continues this Tuesday on the local strip at Hipódromo de La PlataHacer clic para abrir el panel lateral y obtener más información, where a new renewal of the traditional Clásico General José de San Martín (G3) will take center stage. Set over a mile, the race serves as a key stepping stone toward November's Clásico Joaquín V. González (G2).

An unmissable clash is promised, featuring several contenders boasting first-rate credentials for the division. Having recaptured his finest form, Sabiyano is aiming for a rather remarkable feat. The son of Fortify comes off securing back-to-back victories in the Clásico 9 de Julio - Día de la Independencia (G3), and now seeks to complete the same double in the honor of the Father of the Fatherland.

A little over a month ago, the defender of Stud 8 Años of Paraguay scored by 3/4 of a length over Campo Verde(Strategos), who will be absent from the starting gates this time. However, El Ernesto (Señor Candy), third that afternoon beat 3 1/4 lengths, will indeed be lining up.

Boasting a massive campaign and enviable consistency, 7-year-old El Ernesto remains competitive on any stage. So much so that, following that third-place effort, he traveled to Palermo to repeat the placing in the Clásico República Federativa del Brasil (G3) behind Kopke (Hi Happy).

Also coming through the 9 de Julio formline is Storm Sound (Hi Happy), the top miler of 2025 at El Bosque, who is not currently going through his best form. A courageous horse who likes to commit early, he can never be safely discounted.

Shipping in from Campo 2 at San Isidro is Tryman (Safety Check), capable of running from off the pace or pressing early. He brings as his freshest credential a more-than-acceptable fifth-place finish, 6 lengths behind champion Drive Joy(Fortify), in the Clásico Perú (G2) on the Palermo dirt.

The field is completed by the experienced Boyero Spring (Greenspring) and Seek Wave (Seek Again), both capable of springing a surprise if firing on all cylinders, while Emblematicu (Lucullan) sits further down in the preferences.
